6 Best Decluttering Apps To Help You Declutter Your Home

When you start taking decluttering seriously, you develop a habit of doing every task in the most efficient way possible. When you will spot a piece of clothing lying on your bed, you will just know where it’s supposed to go. And when you will see an item of décor or an eye-catchy footwear on display at a mall, you will just be able to reason with yourself why it won’t be a good fit for your home.

Decluttering, when done regularly, becomes a necessary part of your routine. The actual difficulty lies in deciding where to begin. But how do you begin in a way that makes you feel motivated to declutter your home regularly? How do you track your decluttering progress? How do you deal with the items lying in that declutter pile? Do you have a system in place to sell the unwanted items to be able to earn some money?

With so many questions in mind, I’m pretty sure you are looking for some easy ways that can help you simplify your home and life. And this is exactly where this post comes into play.

With the advent of mobile applications, you can aim to digitize a bunch of your decluttering tasks. Here’s a list of decluttering apps that I use on a daily basis to create a home that I love:

1. Decluttr

I’m yet to come across a better app to declutter electronics. Decluttr provides you a hassle-free way to sell your old cell phones, laptops, CDs, DVDs, gaming consoles, tablets and even books. And the best part is that you don’t have to do anything to find a buyer. The company takes care of that while ensuring that you get the best price for your items.

You just have to scan the barcode of the item using your smartphone’s camera after which Decluttr offers you a price. You have the option to decline or negotiate the price offered. Once you’ve agreed upon a price, all you have to do is ship the product to the company. Note that the shipping costs are borne by Decluttr and it won’t take more than a few days to get the payment you’ve agreed upon.

2. Centriq

Now this app may not help you sell your clutter like Decluttr does. But Centriq is exactly what you need to get rid of the paper clutter in your home.

If you are tired of holding on to those user manuals, warranties and guarantees, and tutorials for the appliances you own, it’s time to move on. You just have to scan the model number for the electronic/appliance (air conditioner, refrigerator, lawnmower, mixer grinder, shredder, etc.) you need information about and share it with Centriq. The app will then do the work of telling you how to fix, use and maintain the item.

3. Toss

This app can be your accountability buddy as you prepare yourself for a long decluttering journey. Toss assigns you one decluttering task every day that can be accomplished in just a few minutes. This task might be anything that requires you to get rid of at least one item per day. It can be decluttering the sock drawer or junk drawer or your wardrobe or any other area of the house.

Toss works great for people who feel overwhelmed with the idea of decluttering too often, and helps them declutter little by little. You also have the option to skip the assigned task and take up another one, and you can even delete the task if it’s something that you have already done.

4. Sweepy

This app allows you to generate an everyday cleaning checklist based on the time available. You just have to tell Sweepy how much you wish to accomplish every day of the week and it will automatically generate the schedule for the tasks needed to be done.

The visual indicators of Sweepy can help you track where you are on the cleanliness meter. It measures the overall cleanliness of your home and chooses what you are going to clean next. You also have the option to compete with your family members by sharing the workload with them. There’s a family leaderboard where each member earns reward points based on their progress.

5. Adobe Scan

I can’t remember how long I’ve been using Adobe Scan to control the paper clutter in my home. Adobe Scan makes it extremely easy to digitally store every document that is important enough to stay in your home. I take a snap of the paperwork and convert it into PDF which is securely saved in the Cloud for future use.

You can use Adobe Scan to save old photos, tax records, insurance policy, and even bills and receipts. If you’re looking to go paperless, look no further than Adobe Scan. It will not only simplify your life by helping you cut the paper clutter, but will also take you a step further on your journey towards minimalism.

6. Pantry Check

There’s no app better than Pantry Check if you want to keep your pantry and refrigerator clutter-free. You just have to scan the barcode of the items sitting in your refrigerator and pantry, and the app automatically keeps track of their expiration dates. It constantly reminds you to use the items that will expire soon and restock the ones that have run out of stock. So, if you don’t have the time and energy to go through every single item in your stock of groceries, you can just hire Pantry Check to do it for you.

I hope these decluttering apps come in handy when you are struggling to keep your home clutter-free and tidy. These apps will not only help you deal with the unneeded items but will turn decluttering into a game that you will love to play.

Are there any other apps I might have missed out on? Which of these apps do you use to make decluttering easier?
