7 Entryway Makeovers So Gorgeous, Your Guests Won’t Stop Talking About Them

Decorating the entryway is something that you must never put on the backburner as it’s the area that creates the very first impression of your home. It’s a reflection of how welcoming you are as a person and how inviting your home is. So if the idea of decorating your entryway hits you as a mere afterthought, it’s time for you to rethink your priorities.

Imagine being invited to dinner by an acquaintance and finding yourself entering a hallway that is full of warm and vibrant colors. The lighting and décor look so perfect that you feel at home. There’s a pretty shoe rack to park your shoes in and a gorgeous coat rack to hang your jacket on. The entryway has now set the tone for the rest of the space, and you can’t wait to see what the interior of this home looks like. Even though you have visited many homes in the past, the impression of one with a perfect entryway stays in your mind for the longest time.

Despite the fact that you don’t spend much time in the entryway, it is as functional as any other area of your home. Hence, it’s incredibly important to keep it decked up. The good part is that decorating an entryway doesn’t need as much brainstorming as other areas of your house. You just need to find the right design objects that go with your personal style and put them together in a way that breathes life into this tiny little space.

Here are some amazing entryway decorating ideas that will make your guests feel at home:

1. Take The Minimalist Route

Some people don’t like the idea of putting a lot of items in their entryway, and that’s completely alright as long as you know which few items work fine for you. Ideally, a minimalist entryway uses a few necessary items that make it a functional space and also add a touch of warmth to it. For instance, the minimalist entryway shown in the layout below has been beautifully embellished with a lightly painted wall, a wooden bench, a striped rug and a piece of potted greenery.

2. The Chic Approach

You may just want to display your creative personality in your entryway without painting the walls or placing heavy décor. In that case, adopting a chic approach can help you transform this space with ease. While a unique texture and a few floating shelves can help bring the wall to life, you can get an elegant open shelf and a couple of color contrasting mats to decorate the floor area. Adding a simple yet trendy coat hanger can do wonders for this chic space of yours.

3. Follow A Color Palette

If you don’t want to play around with colors and wish to keep the entryway looking simple and elegant, follow a color palette when choosing the accessories to adorn it. Let’s say, for example, that you have picked a color palette with grey and white tones. If the wall is painted white, bring in a grey bench. Similarly, if the coat hanger and shoe rack are white, plant a tree in a grey pot. Get wall art, a cushion and a welcome mat that have shades of both grey and white.

Make sure that every item you bring in the entryway goes with the pre-decided color palette. Apart from the regular white and grey, there are other color palettes that also work great for entryways. One of my bedrooms has a blue and white color palette that brings coastal vibes to the space and makes it look absolutely gorgeous.

4. Have A Seat, Dear Guest!

Your guests will think of you as a very thoughtful person if they spot a gorgeous sofa seat in your entryway. They might need it to sit on while taking off their shoes or just to relax for a while. Make sure that you also include a houseplant to add a pop of green to this entryway.

5. A Touch Of Vintage

Vintage décor works great for homes with large entryways. If you’re looking to give a stunning vintage touch to your entryway, try not to do overdo it by adding a lot of items. The layout below has a big vintage door along with a tall white table that sets the tone for the entryway. Get a few sculpted pots to add to the vintage feels. And instead of a regular bench, you can go for vintage seating options to make the space feel wholesome. Adding a beautifully designed ‘Welcome’ sign will make your entryway look inviting and warm.

6. A Neutral Tone

Many people still like to go for neutral tones while decorating their entryway, which is fine as long as you’re sticking to the minimalist approach. Having too many items in the same neutral colors can end up making your entryway look awkward. Go for a gorgeous piece of table along with a statement vase in neutral colors. Including a small houseplant also works great if you wish to bring in a pop of green to an otherwise neutral entryway.

7. Mix It Up

If you are a risk taker and love playing around with colors, go with a mix of vibrant colors, and adorn your entryway with anything that defines your personal style. You can add a bright-colored table and decorate it with photo frames and pots. Painting the door in a bold color can make this entryway look more stylish and classier. Add a stunning mirror and a large statement mat to make the entryway look perfect.

Although decorating an entryway is just as important as decorating any other area of your house, be sure not to cram it up with too many accessories. Adopting a minimalist approach works amazingly if you can figure out a few necessary objects that define your personal taste and style. For some, all it takes is great lighting, a bench and a gorgeous piece of wall décor to make an impact while for others, it might take a few more items to transform the look of their entryway.

The onus lies with you to choose what works for your entryway and put it all together in a way that makes this tiny space look like an absolute heaven.
